Hariri from Baabda: I will call for a cabinet session next week

NNA – President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, received on Thursday at the presidential palace of Baabda, Prime Minister Saad Hariri, with whom he discussed the latest developments at the local level, including the contacts underway ove the new electoral law .
At the end of the meeting, Hariri said he was optimistic about the possibility of drafting a new electoral law in the near future, stating that all parties shouldered a great responsibility at this level, calling on them to work together to reach an agreement.
He then stated that his political group was not in confrontation with any component. “What is important to us is to reach an electoral formula that will guarantee fair representation to all the political parties,” he said.
The PM added “the differences are only on certain details. I believe that these differences can be exceeded.”
Regarding his meeting Wednesday with Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, he stressed that the latter was endeavoring to resolve the issue of legislative elections. “I believe we will achieve a positive result,” Hariri said.
He finally announced that he will convene a government meeting next week. “The issue of the electoral law will be included, among other things, on the agenda of the meeting,” he concluded.
