Merehbi to Swedish Mission: Addressing displacement crisis repercussions is a general international responsibility

“What we are doing as Lebanese, and as a Lebanese government, is a humanitarian duty that we have undertaken to save the lives of displaced people, despite the lack of resources and infrastructure in many areas of displacement, such as the governorates of Akkar, Bekaa and Hermel, where life’s main components are missing,” added Merehbi.
“The international community’s assistance in this regard is not sufficient at all,” he emphasized.
Merehbi referred herein to the financial capital investment plan launched by PM Hariri “to finance the construction of infrastructure, which would create between 50 to 100 thousand work opportunities to be shared by both the Lebanese and the displaced, which will ease the unemployment rate of 30 percent among the youth.”
“This plan was outlined in the Brussels Conference,” added Merehbi, calling for “cooperation and solidarity in support of Lebanon’s investment plan to face the crisis of displacement, especially with regards to addressing the worsening unemployment crisis.”
