Bassil: Political situation to change after June 20 if new election law unendorsed
NNA – Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, on Tuesday maintained that the entire political situation would change after June 20, “if we were prevented from endorsing a new election law.”
“We have prevented the extension [of the Parliament’s mandate] which is a huge risk for Lebanon; the political will that we enjoy has prevented the extension,” Bassil said following a meeting for the Change and Reform bloc.
“We shall prevent vacuum,” he added.
“We are obliged to go for vote, and no one can prevent us from voting inside the constitutional institutions,” he stressed.
“Some parties are seeking to extend the political situation that has been running since 1990,” he indicated.
“Nobody can impose on us the election law that they want,” he underlined.
Bassil did not fail to congratulate the Lebanese on the Resistance and Liberation Day.
